Aberdeen Asset Increases Holding in Indonesia’s Astra International | INSIDER NEWS

March 18 (The Insisder Stories) — Global fund manager Aberdeen Asset Management currently owns 6.6% stake of Indonesia’s diversified company Astra International (ASII) following a recent purchase, signalling a growing confidence from international firms to invest in the Southeast Asian country.
Astra said in filing to the Indonesian Stock Exchange Monday said that Aberdeen, which manages more than $900 billion as of Dec. 31, bought 3,025,000 shares on March 13.

Astra, which has the biggest market capitalization at the local stock market, has business interests in automotives, plantation, mining, financials and printing. It booked a net profit of nearly $2 billion for the whole of 2012 despite slumping commodity prices.
