JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories)–Jakarta Vice Governor Sandiaga Uno is rumored to resign for Prabowo Subianto running mate. However, the Gerindra Party cadre denied this rumor.

“I’m still on duty today, up to this second, I’m still on duty,” Uno said on Thursday (09/08). He said that no resignation letter had been sent to the President and he has no plan to send the letter today.

He asked the media not to speculate about his resignation. Uno stated that he is still serving in Jakarta. Regarding the issue that he paid political funds to coalition parties Amanat National Party and Keadilan Sejahtera Party, he refused to comment.

He said, as a consequence of General Election Commission rules that prohibit local leaders from making political statements, he could no longer give political statements.

“So I apologize, what developed yesterday was that I could not comment, but if there were questions about Jakarta I could answer,” he continued.

Bankruptcy Letter

Meanwhile, Uno is confirmed to run for Subianto running mate as he has applied for a non-bankruptcy letter, which is a requirement to register President and vice president (VP) candidate.

Central Jakarta Court’s Spokesperson Jamaluddin Samosir said there are three people who applied for the non-bankruptcy letter namely President Joko Widodo, Gerindra Party Chairman Subianto, an Uno.

While, Mahfud MD is known registeres a Certificate of Never As a Prisoner in the Sleman District Court in Central Java. The letter will be used for the nomination requirements as a state official.

“On behalf of Prof. Mahfud MD, he filed an application for the issuance of a Certificate of Never As a Criminal on August 8, 2018,” said Public Relations of the Sleman District Court, Ali Sobirin when met in his office on Thursday (08/09/2018).

The certificate of never being convicted by the Sleman District Court was numbered letter 1030 / SK / HK / 08/2018 / PNSmn.

Uno, who’s born 28 June 1969, is an Indonesian businessman, investor and politician, and the deputy governor of Jakarta. He was elected with Anies Baswedan in 2017 after defeating incumbent pair Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

A graduate of George Washington University worked for several companies and rose in rank before founding his own business, which led him to become one of the richest people in Indonesia. In 2015, however, he resigned from his companies to join Gerindra.
