World Bank lowers 2013 growth forecast for Indonesia, China | Wires
(The Insider Stories) — The World Bank has cut this year’s growth forecasts for Indonesia and China by 0.1 percentage point to 6.2% and 8.3%, respectively, amid ongoing economic restructuring and moderating investment.
“Our growth forecasts for EAP (East Asia and the Pacific) for 2013 and 2014 remain roughly similar to those of December last year. We expect that with improving external conditions and strong domestic demand, regional growth will rise moderately to 7.8% in 2013 and then adjust back to 7.6% in 2014 and 2015,” wire services quote the bank as saying Monday.
The World Bank also warned on risks of inflation and asset-price buildups on the back of ultra-accommodative policies in the West, and recently in Japan.
