Sun Life Financial Indonesia Launches SUN Early Stage Critical Illness Rider (Secure) | Press Release

(The Insider Stories) — PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia (Sun Life) today launched the SUN Early Stage Critical Illness Rider (Secure), which offers comprehensive additional coverage attached to the basic insurance product including coverage for 88 specific critical conditions from the early stage up to the age of 88.

According to the Indonesian Hospital Association Data and Information Center (PDPERSI), 20% of middle up families filed for bankruptcy in the aftermath of critical illness. Sun Life is delighted to be leading the market by launching SUN Early Stage Critical Illness Rider (Secure); a product that provides the most comprehensive coverage in the early stage of critical illnesses available to consumers. The product addresses an industry wide problem that has seen customers have claims that were submitted on valid policies denied because the condition being claimed for was an early stage of critical illness condition, and not covered under a normal Critical Condition Rider (CCR). “Financial problems piled on top of health problems can be overwhelming. Secure plays an important role in providing peace of mind and financial support for our policyholders during some of the most difficult times in their lives,” explained Bert Paterson, Country Manager Sun Life Financial Group in Indonesia.

Being exposed to critical illnesses, such as diabetes or cancer, could result in costly expenses, both medical and non-medical. Secure allows policyholders the freedom to use the money where it is most needed – to pay for medical bills, the mortgage, or daily living expenses. Without adequate protection, people who suffer from diabetes or a heart attack might have to use their savings or rely on family, friends or credit to cover their expenses, causing significant damage to their financial stability.

Bert said; “Secure offers enhanced protection to policyholders through relieving their financial burden from both medical and non-medical expenses; it can go a long way in helping to ease these financial worries. This will enable our policyholders to concentrate on getting better instead of worrying about paying the bills. Customers also have the advantage of making double claims with no waiting period as long as the second claim relates to a different critical illness.”

To disseminate the importance of coverage of critical illnesses to Indonesians, Sun Life has conducted health seminars in Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Kediri, and Yogyakarta. Secure will be marketed by Sun Life through a network of 50 marketing offices in 30 cities in Indonesia.
