Semen Indonesia Starts Balikpapan Cement-Packing Plant Construction – Kompas
March 18 (The Insider Stories) — Indonesia’s biggest cement producer Semen Indonesia (SMGR) has begun the construction of a cement packing plant in Balikpapan to meet increasing demand from Kalimantan provinces, Kompas newsportal reported late Sunday.
Kalimantan is among the most prospective areas, with cement sales reached 4.1 million tons last year, up 21% from 3.4 million tons in the previous year, Semen Indonesia’s president Dwi Soetjipto was quoted as saying.
He also said that construction is expected to be completed by September 2014. Once completed, the plant will have 2×6,000 tons of cement silos and rotary packer with installed capacity of up to 2,200 cement packs an hour. It will distribute cement to the North, West and South Kalimantan provinces.
