INSIDER COMPANY: Berau EGMS OKs Eko Santoso Budianto As CEO; Bumi Plc talks

(Insider Stories) — An extraordinary shareholders meeting of PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk (BRAU), Indonesia’s fifth-biggest coal producer by output, Thursday approved the appointment of Eko Santoso Budianto to take over as president director from Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

Shareholders also approved a new format for Berau’s board of directors and commissioners.

Also present at in the EGMS, held at the Shangri-La hotel in Jakarta, were Bumi Plc’s chief executive Nick Von Schirnding and its chairman, Samin Tan.

When asked by reporters about the progress on the Bakrie separation, Von Schirnding said: “[It] will achieve progress in the next few weeks. “

Bumi Plc currently controls 29% of Bumi Resources (BUMI).

Von Schirnding also said Bumi Plc is targeting to boost coal production at Berau to 30 million metric tons in the next five years from 21 million tons currently.

He said Bumi Plc has taken note of a $50 million deposit from the Bakrie Group into an escrow account managed by JP Morgan.

In related news, Bumi Resources Minerals (BRMS), a mining arm of Jakarta-based Bumi, announced about the resignation of Samin Tan as BRMS’s president director.
Two other directors — Kenneth Raymond Allan and Hardianto — also resigned.

The announcement is available in a filing to the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Thursday.
