Belarus interested in Indonesia heavy machinery sector -Trade ministry | INSIDER NEWS
(Insider Stories)-The tiny Eastern European nation of Belarus is interested in investing in the heavy machinery industry in Indonesia, Trade Minister Mohamad S. Hidayat said Tuesday.
Hidayat said following a meeting with Belorussian counterpart Dmitry Katerinich that Belarus had asked for help to find local partners and strategic locations and that the trade department had outlined investment incentives.
Still mostly state-controlled, Belarus’s economy relies largely on heavy equipment and agriculture. Indonesia is Belarus’s fourth-biggest Asian trading partner with two-way trade in 2012 of $91 million including imports of large-capacity mining trucks and exports of commodities.
Indonesia has recently become more attractive to foreign investors after it navigated the 2008 global financial crisis better than many other major economies.
