JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Fortuner is expected to become the backbone of the export of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) in 2017, followed sedan Vios, Innova, and new products Sienta. Toyota targets to increase exports of CBU (completely built up) vehicles in 2017 by 10% to 189,000 units compared to last year’s 169,000 units.
“Toyota became the automotive company which contribute greatly to the nation’s exports,” said Senior Director TMMIN Edward Otto Kanter in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/3).
Edward said he would make breakthroughs to achieve the increase. One of them with expanding market reach.
So far, TMMIN exported more CBU cars to neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Starting this year, the export market will be expanded to Vietnam, Australia, and the Middle East, especially Morocco.
TMMIN will also implement integrated logistics system, ranging from the use of tracking applications in each truck and barcode. In addition, the company also continues to develop the quality of human resources (HR).
He asserted that Toyota Motor is strongly committed to maintain the quality of exported products.
In January 2017, he said, TMMIN exports were encouraging, reaching 15,400 units of CBU vehicles, up 76% from the same period last year at 8,800 units. Exports of Fortuner brand reached 5,000 units, Vios sedan 2,500 units, Innova and Sienta totaling 1,100 units and 600 units respectively.
Since the first export in 1987 until January 2017, TMMIN has recorded accumulated vehicle exports of 1.0651 million units. In addition to the vehicle intact, TMMIN is also exporting semi-finished vehicles (completely knocked down / CKD), vehicle components, and production tools. (*)
