Democratic Party Head Yudhoyono to meet with President Jokowi as e-KTP mega scandal trial kicks off

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Former President and Chairman of Democratic Party (PD) Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to meet with President Joko Widodo at the State Palace at midday today as the trial of e-KTP mega scandal kicks off today. The meeting is also held as the DKI Jakarta governor-vice governor election second round campaign enters second day.

“That’s right,” spokesperson of the President Johan Budi was quoted by detik.com as saying.

Johan Budi said the former president request a time to meet with with President Joko Widodo and the President decided to meet today.

The meeting is widely expected as the President has said that he is ready to meet with the PD Chairman after the first round of DKI Jakarta election. The agenda of the meeting is not clear as yet, but some speculate they could talk about the DKI Jakarta governor election and the e-KTP case, which appears to have implicated top politicians of major parties, including Democratic Party, Golkar and other lesser parties.

Based on the dossiers of the e-KTP case circulated in the media, a number of politicians were allegedly received huge amount of money, ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of rupiah, as a result of approving the e-KTP project which costed Rp5.9 trillion state budget fund.

Among politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats who have been allegedly received money from the e-KTP project are including Gamawan Fauzi (former Home Affairs Minister), Setya Novanto (DPR Speaker), Melcias Mekeng (DPR), Ganjar Pranowo (governor of Central Java), Anas Urbaningrum (USD5.5 million) of Democratic Party, Taufik Effendi, Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa, Teguh Djuwarno, Yasonna Laoly (Minister of Human Rights and Justice), Marzuki Ali (PD), Ade Komarudin (Golkar), Chaeruman Harahap, Ignatius Mulyono, Mirwan Amir, Drajat Wisnu Setyaaan, and many others.
