KIWOOM SECURITIES INDONESIA ( AG )
PT. Kiwoom Securities Indonesia (KSI) is a subsidiary of Kiwoom Securities Co., Ltd. (Kiwoom) in Korea which owns a 70% stake of KSI. Kiwoom is number one on-line trading securities firm in Korea with its biggest market share in brokerage business in Korea for more than five years in a row.
Since starting its business in Indonesia since December 1995 in a joint type of firm between Korea and Indonesia, Dongsuh Securities (DS) became under wholly control of a locally domiciled Korean company named PT. Pratama Abadi Industri in April 1999 and finally taken over by Kiwoom in January 2011.
In the wake of Kiwoom’s dominant presence in KSI, its paid-in capital was increased in October 2010 to around 69 billion IDR from 43.5 billion IDR. As of February 2011, with its three branches and five galleries in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and Medan, KSI has provided local clients and Korean clients with its investment service. And further quality service is anticipated once its new powerful on-line trading system is launched due June this year. The new system is being now contrived by Kiwoom in Korea with its great efforts.
KSI shall expand its business boundary into many other areas after solidifying its retail business base and securing confidence from clients with continuous support from Kiwoom as it has done in the past sixteen years.
Since its establishment, KSI has played a major role in the transfer of Capital Market know-how to Indonesian capital market. KSI was the first securities firm in Indonesian to install a gallery equipped with an electronic board of stock price movement. KSI has made considerable efforts in introducing Indonesia capital market to Korean investor by hosting several official and unofficial events. Especially, KSI held an Investment Seminar in 2000 at Seoul in cooperation with Indonesian Banking Restructuring Agency (IBRA). In 2006, KSI also held an Investment Seminar introducing several projects of Indonesia Natural Resources (Mining, Palm Plantation, etc) at Seoul. As a result, a few deals have been done successfully between Korean investors and local operators. And others are now undergoing. KSI is also providing investment management services through its subsidiary of Dongsuh Investment Management Co (DOSIM), now Kiwoom Investment Management Indonesia (KIMI), with a type of private fund for equity and short-term fixed income bonds. Two spot funds were among major examples, winding up shortly after achieving its target returns.
With a view to enhancing its competitiveness and better service to clients, KSI has been developing its Home Trading System by the name of ‘HERO’ supported by Korean IT specialists. As supervised and tested at Korea by Kiwoom, HERO will give big contribution into customer satisfaction and higher quality level than existing systems.
KSI will expand its business into another area after strengthen the retail business and achieve the trust from clients with continuous support from Kiwoom including mutual fund business by KIMI.
In next 5 years, KSI target to go public at Indonesia and KOSDAQ, Korea. To achieve the goal, many efforts will be done especially human resource development by proving training for employees to have training opportunity at Korea.
