Humpuss Intermoda Transpertasi Tbk
Originally, the company was an LNG Division of PT Humpuss, which built its first vessel Ekaputra in 1986 with capacity of 78.988 DWT (the biggest in the world at that time). It became a Shipping Division in 1990 and expanded its business to serve liquid methanol transportation by acquiring new methanol carriers.
In 1992 the business of Shipping Division was altered to a newly incorporated subsidiary of Humpuss Group named PT Humpuss Sea Transport and started to operate oil tanker shipping. This company continued developing its business in shipping industry by adding various new vessels into its fleet, from tug and barges vessels to 1,300-37,000 DWT tanker in the following years. It also started to explore some new sectors in this business such as cargo transportation and ship agency. The name changed to PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi in 1997.
The Company offered 74 millions of shares through Initial Public Offering effectively declared on November 24th, 1997 and listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange on December 15th in the same year. In 2004 the company offered bonds up to IDR 35 billions through Initial Public Offering, effectively declared on December 10th, and listed in Surabaya Stock Exchange on December 20th.
As its commitment to professionalism with priority on safety and reliability, The Company has obtained ISO 9001:2000 certificates for vessel operational management, manning, and ship agency. This company has been the first Indonesian Company awarded the Certificate of International Safety Management (ISM) for safety management system on vessel’s operator. Since July 2004, all vessels owned by HITS and its subsidiaries have been equipped with Certificate of International Ship & Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).
Up to the present, The Company keeps on exploring and expanding its business in shipping industry, improving its service quality, and upgrading the ship and crew management expertise as well. By having new professional management, The Company concentrates on 8 business sectors: Gas Transportation, Oil Transportation, Chemical Transportation, Industrial Coal Supply Chain, Dry Bulk Transportation, Crew Management Services, Ship Agency Services, and Technical Ship Management. They are all integrated as the first-rate solution to answer regional and global market needs of shipping transportation.
