Pulp and paper exports gain 2% in 1Q due to verification system – Report | Sector data
(The Insider Stories) – The Wood Legality Verification System (SVLK) boosted pulp and paper export demand 2.02% on year to 5.45 trillion rupiah ($561 million) in the first quarter of the year, a report says.
The Jakarta Globe quotes Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association (APKI) chairman Misbahul Huda as saying Indonesia is the world’s ninth-biggest pulp producer and seventh-biggest paper products producer, and there’s still room for the industry to expand as forest management improves.
Ministry of Forestry secretary general Agus Sarsito is quoted as saying that the SVLK had issued 19,531 documents as of April 1 to legally certify 2.07 million tons of forest products worth $1.41 billion.
