INSIDER HEADLINE: Jakarta Governor Hopes Land Clearance For Priok Port Road Complete by April -Report
March 13 (The Insider Stories) — Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo hopes to complete the land clearance process in Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok port next month, a crucial step to improve logistics at Indonesia’s busiest port, Kontan newsportal said Tuesday.
An 11.4 kilometer stretch of planned toll road is expected to speed up distribution of goods to and from the port located in North Jakarta.
However the 3.6 trillion rupiah ($371 million) project has been stalled for years as residents opposed relocation. Kontan cited Djoko Murjanto of the Public Works Ministry as saying that the project is about 60% finished and should be completed next year if the Jakarta governor can get the land cleared soon.
