Indonesia’s consumers remained positive in March

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Bank Indonesia’s consumer index was recorded at 121.5 in March, much higher than the February of 117.1. The index indicated consumers optimism in March improved from previous month. The increase was also in line with the increase of Consumers Expectation Index (IKK) by 5.3 points and Economic Condition Index (IKE) by 3.5 points.

Consumers predicted that the price pressure in the next three month increases though, as shown by the Price Expectation Index (IEH) for three month at 171.7 points, up 0.9 points from previous month. This is due to an expected increase demand ahead of Ramadhan and Idul Fitri festivity in June 2017. However, the price pressure for the next six month is projected to slow down as reflected in the IEH for six month at 166.1 points, fell 8.6 points from previous survey. Consumers projected loans and savings in the next six month are projected to be slightly lower compared to previous survey. (*)
