JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – The opposition camp requested clarification on the Indonesia’s Home Affairs Ministry’s disclosure that at 31 million of eligible voters had not been registered. The complained has been submitted by the national winning team of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno to the General Election Commission (GEC) office, on Wednesday (17/10).
The contender team stated, the Home Ministry should have reported final list of potential voters before GEC assigning permanent voters list. The agency’s commissioner Viryan Azis lamented such event. So far, he said, the ministry’s Population and Civil Registration General Secretary have not submitted yet the official number of voters.
Mustafa Kamal, General Secretary of Prosperous Justice Party accused Home Ministry for doing principle violation. “Home Ministry just submitted additional 31 million (voters) data to us. Did it because the commission has requested for several times, and after permanent voters list being assigned,” he said.
Another Subianto-Uno’s supporter from Berkarya Party, Priyo Budi Santoso added, the late voters report is potential in causing fraud.
Based on the official data, the number of permanent voters list for the 2019 General Election recorded 185 million more voters.
“The recap is based on the minutes of the determination of the voters list in 514 regencies and cities in 34 provinces,” the GEC’s commissioner Viryan Aziz said on August 28 by adding this amount had included all voters in the district and city.
