They were being detained from three different places, as police considered that the number would still increase. It said, seventy-two people detained for attacking police and damaging public facilities at Election Supervisory Body’ office.

Then, 156 people secured from Petamburan areas for burning police car and ruining state facilities. Furthermore, 29 others detained from Gambir for attacking police inn and Gambir police station.

By this detainment, police secured some evidence such as molotov cocktails, weapons, rocks, Rp5 million (US$347.22) cash, and cellphones. Official estimated that the chaos has been planned before, and still investigating further.

Indonesian Rupiah against US Dollar continued depreciating amid the election results chaos. The Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) fell by 0.17 percent to 14,488.

Commenting on Rupiah depreciation, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said, the security issue is not only cause but also the United States (US) and China mounting tension that creating fear and uncertainty. She expects that the occurrence will not impact Indonesia’s economic growth target in the second quarter.

US has at least a month to impose another $300 billion tariff on China’ imports, said US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Last month, the country just imposed tariff hike from 10 percent to 25 percent on $200 billion Chinese goods, as talks to end a 10-month trade war between the world’s two largest economies stalled.

Mnuchin said in a hearing before the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee mentioned that there won’t be any decision probably for another 30 to 45 days. It means that the next batch of levies would be ready when US President Donald Trump meets Chinese President Xi Jinping at G20 leaders summit in Japan on June 28-29.

According to Mnuchin, Trump administration is open to holding new talks with China if the two sides can proceed on the basis of previous negotiations. Chinese government’ top diplomat Wang Yi also said that China’ door would always be open to further trade talks with the US, but it would not accept any unequal agreements. No talks have been scheduled since both powerhouses’ last discussion on May 10.

Then, Indonesian government formulized policy to improve oil and gas trade balance deficit. During January-April 2019, the trade balance deficit reached $2.56 billion, the highest in Indonesian history.

Energy and Mineral Resources ministry’ policy related to utilization of domestic exploration crude oil, which are normally exported, now partially will be processed domestically for the domestic market. According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Darmin Nasution that PT Pertamina’ oil exploration abroad which returned to Indonesia is recorded as import goods.

From now on, he continued, imports of crude oil exploration from Pertamina’ investments abroad will be recorded. By this, primary income in the balance of payments will increase and hopefully, reduce Indonesia’s current account deficit.
