Indonesia supports Jim Yong Kim re-nominated as WB President

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Indonesia expressed support for renomination of Dr. Jim Yong Kim as President of the World Bank for a second five year period (2017-2022). This support is delivered by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati after seeing the achievements of Dr. Kim during the first period of his leadership at the World Bank since 2012.

Under the leadership of Kim, the World Bank is deemed able to answer the challenges of economic development in member countries. Kim was able to bring the World Bank closer to developing countries, and encourage the World Bank programs that reflect the interests of developing countries in the fields of education, health, poverty alleviation, social welfare and gender equality.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said, “I give my appreciation for the efforts and the efforts of the World Bank to help member countries achieve their development objectives. The World Bank’s mission to fight poverty and support the welfare of the community in a sustainable manner is critical in supporting global development, and these attempts to get the full support of 189 member states. ”

At the same time, Kim also deemed capable of raising communication and closer cooperation with regional development banks to jointly devise and help economic development in the whole world. During the World Bank, Kim also has to reform the organization and governance of the World Bank to better respond to the demands of member countries and changes in the global economic order.

Indonesia encourages the World Bank under the leadership of Jim Yong Kim to continue to support the interests of developing countries. Indonesia also wished Kim was able to bring the World Bank as an institution that is better and more powerful in providing development finance, and able to promote knowledge and work more closely with the rest of the developing world.
