JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The Indonesian government, through the Consulate and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, thrives to increase exports of fish processed products to Saudi Arabia.
One of the efforts to be taken by the government is arranging a Trade Delegation visit to Saudi Arabia to open up business contacts between the two country’s business players on March 6, 2017 in Jeddah.
“The Consulate General and ITPC Jeddah have brought together entrepreneurs from Indonesia and Saudi Arabia to establish trade contacts. The quality of processed fish products of Indonesia is very competitive. Hopefully, this meeting can stimulate business transactions in Saudi Arabia,” said Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah M. Hery Saripudin in an official statement on Thursday (Mar 3).
The Indonesian Trade delegation consists of the management team of PT Manage Mina Laut (KML) Food and Group Economics and Entrepreneurship Council of Muhammadiyah. While the Saudi Arabian companies were present, including Badir Global Business Development Co. which is a member of the Naghi Group.
The Head of ITPC Jeddah Gunawan explained that PT KML Food is an Indonesian company that can produce up to 135 thousand tons of fish and has 48 processing plants. PT KML Food has penetrated the export market to the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, China, and Australia. It has also penetrated non-traditional markets such as Russia, South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Naghi Group is a major and leading company in the Middle East engaging in the automotive, transportation, and industrial fisheries and food.
In its release, Forbes rannked Naghi Group on the 13th of the 50 most influential business groups in Saudi Arabia. While Arabian Business in 2010 noted Naghi family wealth estimates to reach US $ 5 billion or ranks 17th of the 50 richest families in Saudi Arabia.
Indonesian fishery export potential can be seen from the data of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), which records the production of fish caught Indonesia by the end of 2015 amounted to 6 million tons. While at the end of 2016 is expected to reach 7 million tons or an increase of 16.7%.
In addition, the BPS said that in October 2016 the food and beverage commodities of Indonesia which have entered Saudi Arabia market has recorded positive growth of 6.2%. The commodities are including fisheries and fish products, which recorded year-on-year positive growth 195.35%. (HS)
