JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Chappy Hakim stepped down from his position as a president director of copper & gold miner PT Freeport Indonesia, said The Insider Stories’s source. The letter of resignation has been sent to the company’s parent firm Freeport McMoRan in the US.

One senior government official, who declined to be named, has confirmed the resignation, but Freeport declined to comment. He also did not give the reason of the resignation but recently Chappy has a problem with a member of parliament and asked Freeport to dismiss his position as a president director.

His decision to resign would certainly surprise many people as Chappy only held the post for three month.

The largest mining company in Indonesia has appointed Chappy as the new president in November 2016 to replace the position filled by Maroef Sjamsoeddin. Chappy is a former Chief of Air Force during 2002 and 2005. (*)
