A joint venture (JV) between public Indonesia listed miner PT Intraco Penta Tbk (IDX: INTA) and Hong Kong’s Sinohydro Group, Tenaga Listrik Bengkulu plan to develop 200 megawatt power plant project in Sumatera. Tenaga Listrik Bengkulu projects need costs $360 investment and plans to finish the the coal-fired power plant by 2019. Intraco owns 30 percent in the projects while Synohydro controlling 70 . State-run power producer PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), said Intraco and Sinohydro has secured power purchase agreements for the power production from the project. PLN said the power plant could save Rp 1.7 trillion ($123 million) from annual costs for Sumatra’s power grid. Tenaga Listrik Bengkulu’s president director Cao Yuesheng, said once completed, TLB would supply 1.4 gigawatt-hours of energy to Bengkulu province every year.
