JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution has approved 19 projects under the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to be included in the revised National Strategic Project (NSP).
Among the 19 projects are toll roads, namely Pasuruan-Probolinggo, Probolinggo-Banyuwanggi, Yogyakarta-Solo toll road, Semarang-Demak highway, Sukabumi-Ciranjang-Padalarang toll road, Sigli- Banda Aceh, Banjai-Langsa and Bukit Padang Panjang-Lubuk Alung-Padang toll road.
Beside the toll roads, the government also includes irrigation projects such as irrigation in Lematang, Leuwigoog, Baliase, Gumbasa as well as dams and Raw Water Supply System project in Karian.
The Ministry PUPR has proposed 76 projects to be included in the NSP, consisting of 25 toll roads projects, nine dams, irrigation projects and the remaining 30 projects are raw water supply.
Indonesia government has issued Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2016 and the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 3/2016 about Acceleration of NSP for five-years term as a move to speed up the development of infrastructures in the country. The regulation was signed by President Joko Widodo on Jan. 8, 2016.
The President, through the regulations, instructed the Manpower Minister, Attorney General, Chief of Police, Cabinet Secretary, Chief of Staff of the President, the Head of the Institute for Non-Government, governors, and Regents or Mayors to take the necessary measures in line with their scope of works, functions and authorities to accelerate the implementation of the National Strategic Projects and, or, provide support in accelerating the implementation of the National Strategic Projects.
In the list of the regulation, there are 225 projects, which comprise of 47 highway projects, five national non-toll roads, 12 railway projects, seven of facilities and urban train, 11 airport revitalization works, construction of four new airports and the development of the two airports, building 13 ports, three-phase of one million homes development.
Furthermore, three projects oil refineries to be located in Bontang in East Kalimantan and Tuban in East Java, three gas pipeline projects, waste-powered plant, eight drinking water projects, waste water system, National Capital Integrated Coastal Development, seven border crossings, 60 dams, two projects of network broadband, 24 other projects and Special Economic Zones.
The regulation also mentions an acceleration of infrastructure projects for transportation, electricity, and clean water in 10 strategic areas of national tourism, six smelter projects, and three projects of agricultural and marine.
Deputy of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Luky Eko Wuryanto said, the government still calculates the cost of the priority infrastructure projects for 2016.
“We are yet to finalize the total value of the projects. We will summon the project owners, then we should know which ones are to be completed this year, next year or the following year,” he said at his office.
