JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia’s Vice Presidential hopeful Sandiaga Uno hoped that there will be no uproar until the Rupiah exchange recover. He  does not want that Indonesian situation getting worse like the economic condition of other countries.

“We asked the politician to shut up first. We do not want that Indonesian situation to be like Argentine, Turkey. It is very sad there,” he told journalists on Wednesday (05/09).

Uno itself has decided to convert 35 percent of his dollar assets to help the weakening Rupiah. Yesterday, Rupiah touched 14,954 level against the US dollar at 6.12 pm local time.
“This is the time to defend the country. I have converted all my saving to rupiah. There are many speculators, we should not be deceived. They are clever but have no morals,” saih him.
Uno also urged the businessmen and conglomerates to sell their dollars to help Rupiah Weakning. Based on record, Uno has total wealth of Rp191.64 billion (US$13.26 million).

In 1997, businessman-turned-politician Uno established a financial adviser company PT Recapital Advisors along with his high school mate, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. One of their business mentors is William Soeryadjaya, the founder of Astra Group.

Then in 1998, Sandi Uni and Edwin Soeryadjaya, the son of William established an investment company PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya. The company business ranges from mining, telecommunication, and forestry.

Uno was very successful in his business due to the broad network of companies and financial institution inside and outside Indonesia. The company collects investor’s capital and then acquire companies in financial troubles.

The companies in crisis were cleared up and developed. After those companies become healthy then the assets will be sold at a higher price. Until 2009, there have been 12 companies that were taken over by Saratoga. Some of the companies were re-sold, among other PT Dipasena Citra Darmaja, PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional and PT Astra Microtronics.

In 2005-2008, Uno became the chairman of The Association of Young Indonesian Businesspeople. He was also the chairman of the standing committee for Indonesia Chambers of Commerce ‘s Small And Medium Enterprise Division since 2004.

In 2007, Uno was crowned as the 122nd richest man in Indonesia by Globe Asia magazine with total assets of his company reaches US$ 80 million. While in 2008, he was named as a newcomer in the list of 40 richest men in Indonesia by Forbes magazine. The magazine wrote that Uno has a total wealth of $400 million and ranked 29th richest in Indonesia.

Uno was inaugurated as Jakarta ‘s deputy governor on October 16, 2018, after a bitter 2017 Jakarta‘ election.
