Property sales down by 23.1% in Q1

Indonesia Property Watch (IPW) said that the property sales figure in the first quarter of this year plummeted by 23.1 percent to Rp 1.24 trillion (US$91.2 million). The figure even dropped by 54.04 percent compared to the same period of last year compared to the previous quarter, based on a research conducted by the IPW in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi and Banten. Executive director of IPW Ali Tranghada viewed that the decreasing trend was not unexpected, since the increasing sales figure in the fourth quarter of 2015 could not be used to predict the positive trend in the housing market in the next quarter. He added, the middle segment accounted for 52.19 percent of the market share. Meanwhile, large and small segments only accounted for 28.27 percent and 19.54 percent of the market share, respectively.
