JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - President Joko WIdodo has appointed Johan Budi S.P., a former spokesperson of Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK), as special staff for communication or spokesperson of the President.
The President said he picked Johan Budi for his experience in conveying information to the public. He is also a good person. “I am happy more and more good people are helping me,” President Joko Widodo said (Jan 12).
The President said his main duties will be to communicate information related with the government performance to the public. “Communicating means a spokesperson,” he said.
“As we know, he has wealth of experience. And, I hope (he) can help me in communicating the government’s program…the President’s program,” President Jokowi said.
Johan, a former journalist, has become spokesperson of KPK for ten years or three periods. Recently, he was nominated as a commissioner of KPK, but failed to get enough votes from the Parliament members. Then, he resigned from KPK.
“I am certainly ready to help President Jokowi if asked as a spokesperson,” said Johan recently prior to his appointment. (*)
