Pertamina Gas developing 513-km of gas pipeline

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - State energy company PT Pertamina through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) is developing three gas transmission pipeline projects with total length of 513 kilometers in South Sumatera, Central Java and East Java, a company official said.

The pipeline network projects will add on 225 km of gas pipeline that has been developed in 2016. The first is pipeline project linking Grissik-Pusri (South Sumatera) with total length of 176 km, said Manager Public Relation of Pertagas Hatim Ilwan in Bogor on Sunday (March 5).

The gas pipeline will transfer gas to fertilizer plants and power plants in South Sumatera, which are expected to come onstream in second quarter of 2017. The total capacity of gas to be delivered would reach 160 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

The second project is gas pipeline which connects Gresik and Petrokimia Gresik in East Java with a length of 70 km. As much as 85 MMSCFD of gas will be transferred through this pipeline beginning from July 2017.

The third project is gas pipeline linking Gresik in East Java and Semarang in Cental Java. The gas pipeline will transfer gas amounted to 500 MMSCFD to power plants and industrial parks in the region. The project is projected to be completed in second quarter of 2017.

In addition the construction of the three pipeline project, Hatims aid Pertagas will this year develop a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) Cilacap, which is targeted to come onstream in2 019. The gas from the FSRU will be supplied to Refinery Unit VI Cilacap, owned by Pertamina.

As for city gas project, Pertagas has connected 91,857 households with gas pipeline, spreading in 13 cities. By 2019, Pertagas targets to connect up 214,618 of households with city gas pipeline network.

In 2016, Pertagas completed three gas pipeline project, namely gas transmission and open access, linkin Belawan and Special Economic Zone (KIK) in North Sumatera with length of 11.8 km as well as KIK Seimangke with pipeline length of 125 km.

The second project was an open access transmission pipeline linking Porong and Grati with total length of 56 km, located in East Java. The pipeline transfers gas to power plant, owned by a subsidiary of PLN, PT Indonesia Power Grati.

The third project was an open access gas pipeline from Muara Karang to Muara Tawar with a length of 32 km. The gas pipeline will transfer gas to gas power plant PLTG Muara Tawar and industry zones in West Java.

Pertagas spent around US$287 million to develop those three gas pipeline projects with total length of 225 km. (HS)
