(Insider Stories) - A plan by Wilmar International and Noble Group Ltd. to set up a palm plantation in Papua has stalled after the companies failed to receive permits.
The companies, planned to produce and sell crude palm oil and its derivatives, have set up a joint venture that holds a majority stake in PT Henrison Inti Persada, which owns around 23,000 hectares of land in Papua.
“The Wilmar-Noble JV is off the table as certain relevant merger clearances were not received (before a deadline)," a Wilmar spokeswoman was cited by Reuters as saying on Tuesday.
