JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - United States’ Microsoft Corp., announced will make a strategic investment in Bukalapak, one of Indonesia’ e-commerce platforms, said the company today (11/03). The technology firm and existing backers Singapore-based GIC and PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (IDX: EMTK) also investing more in the unicorn.
Based on the official statement, both parties said have formed a strategic partnership to reshape how e-commerce is conducted in the country. kicking off the collaboration between the two companies, Bukalapak will adopt Microsoft Azure as its preferred cloud platform.
The partnership will leverage Microsoft’ expertise in building a resilient cloud infrastructure to support Bukalapak services for more than 12 million micro, small and medium enterprises, and 100 million customers.
“This partnership signals a deep collaboration with Microsoft on an array of technology projects that will transform the technology-driven commerce solutions and operations solution and operations in Indonesia,” said Rachmat Kaimuddin, CEO of Bukalapak.
He conveyed, through this partnership, Bukalapak and Microsoft will collaborate on key initiatives like building resilient infrastructure, bridging the digital gap, and lift up the digital skills of the company employees and their merchants.
Haris Izmee, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia stated, “Through this partnership, merchants and consumers will have a more efficient and reliable buying and selling experiences, which in turn, creates business resilience and helps in accelerate growth in the Indonesian digital economy.”
