JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Chief of National Police, General Sigit Listyo, announced that the perpetrators of the bombing blasted at Cathedral Church in Makasar, South Sulawesi, were husband and wife with the initials LL and YSF. Both are members of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), the largest IS-affiliate in Indonesia, was founded by cleric Aman Abdurrahman and others in 2015.
“Both are part of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, which has carried out a similar action at the Cathedral of Our Lady at Mount Carmel, Jolo Island, Southern Philippines,” he told the media on Monday (03/29).
Apart from the two bombers, according to Listyo, there are four other suspects who have been detained by the police. A number of bombs and bomb raw materials have been found in Bekasi, West Java, during the detention process by the police.
He continued, both was a married couple and had only been married for six months. Separately, the head of the National Counter Terrorism Agency, commissioner general, Boy Rafli Amar, added that the husband and wife who were the perpetrators of the suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral Church were born in 1995.
Not only millennials, the husband and wife of the suicide bombers are directly related to the JAD terrorist network. He said the two were regenerated cells from the terrorist network that has been banned in Indonesia. Both are suspected of learning how to make bombs online.
The suicide bomb explosion occurred at a Cathedral in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, on Sunday (03/28) at around 10.30 central Indonesian time. One person was reported killed, namely a suicide bomber and nine people consisting of five church officers and four congregations were injured.
The leader of JAD, Aman Abdurrahman was sentenced to death in 2018 for an attack two years earlier but has not been executed. The organization was established around 2010 by Abu Wardah, also called Santoso, who was killed by security forces in July 2016.
In 2018, the government has disbanded one of Indonesia largest Islamic State-linked organization JAD for terrorism-related activities. Judge Aris Bawono Langgeng stated that JAD as represent by Emir Zainal Anzhori has been proven carrying out terrorism activities and declared as forbidden organization for playing significant role in recent terror attach in the country, including Thamrin, Kampung Melayu, Samarinda church attack, and others.
During the trial, JAD was represented by Zainal Anshori, the Emir of JAD. Before, Abdurahman, the group’ spiritual leader is currently on death row. The organization carried out their activities based on their own initiatives and not based on an order from JAD, he added after the hearing, saying that Abu Ghar, a terrorist convict involved in Thamrin Attack carried out the crime based on the order from Rois, another member of JAD.
