JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Throughout the first half (1H) of 2020, PT Mandiri Sekuritas through Mandiri Securities Pte. Ltd., has completed 12 global bond mandates with a US$2.1 billion issuance value. The underwriting value increased 109 percent from the same period last year which was valued at $ 984 million.

According to the company’ President Director, Dannif Danusaputro, Mandiri Sekuritas’ business growth was driven by an increase in global bond issuance since the beginning of the year. The issuance was carried out by the issuing company with the aim of capital expansion and paying off the old debt.

Together with other bond underwriters, both parties have handled underwriting from PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (IDX: MEDC), PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (IDX: BMRI), PT Pertamina, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, and PT Tunas Baru Lampung Tbk (IDX: TBLA). This year, Mandiri Sekuritas also participated in the issuance of a global bond owned by the state-owned mining SOE Holding, like PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum with a value of $2.5 billion.

This global bond was issued on May 12, 2020, with a coupon rate of 4.75 to 5.80 percent. Mandiri Securities, DBS Bank Ltd., Maybank Bhd, Mizuho Securities Asia Ltd., MUFG Securities Asia Ltd., and SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Ltd., took positions as joint bookrunners and lead managers.

The brokerage company owned by PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (IDX: BMRI, has established Mandiri Securities Singapore since 2017. The establishment of a subsidiary is part of the company’s drive to expand its global reach.

The company obtained a Capital Market Services license from the Singapore Monetary Authority in the form of a deal in securities (bonds and equity) and financial advisors services. With the establishment of the Singapore unit, Mandiri Sekuritas is now the only investment bank in Indonesia that has a license and the ability to engage in the Singapore capital market, including in issuing bonds in three global currencies, namely the US Dollar, Yen and Euro.

Mandiri Securities has been active in underwriting various global bonds by the Indonesian government. Meanwhile, Mandiri Sekuritas provides comprehensive capital market services with four main business lines, including Capital Market Institution, Retail, Investment Banking, and Global Bond.

Each business line contributed 42 percent, 30 percent, 19 percent, and 8 percent to the company’s revenue.
