JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, to set up new ministry for investment affairs and remodel some department. The proposal has been approved by the House of Representatives today and the move in order to maximize the Job Creation Law.

The deputy chairman of the House, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, beside set up the new ministry, the head of state plans to merge education and culture ministry with research and technology ministry becomes the education, culture, research and technology ministry.

Currently the education and culture ministry lead by Nadiem Makarim and the research and technology lead by Bambang Brodjonegoro. While, the investment affairs command by senior economic ministry, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. Following the new policy, the cabinet reshuffle was actually inevitable.

End of last year, Widodo has announced the new member of his “Indonesia Maju” cabinet. Accompanied by vice president, Ma’ruf Amin, he announces former major of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, as social minister. Then former Jakarta’ vice governor’ Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno as the minister of tourism and creative economy.

Then, Budi Gunadi Sadikin as the minister of health, Yahya Cholil Stakuf as minister of religion, Sapto Wahyu Trenggono as minister of marine and fisheries, and Muhammad Lutfi as minister of trade. The replacement caused of two cabinet member, minister of marine and fisheries affairs, Edhy Prabowo, and minister for social affairs, Julari P. Batubara were caught in a corruption cases by the Corruption Eradication Commission. Both are cadres of the Gerindra Party and the Indonesian Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan Party.

Coupled with the pandemic situation there are some issues Widodo should strengthened his cabinet to tackle the virus outbreak. At the plenary cabinet meeting on June 18, at the State Palace, he was angry at his cabinet on the worse handling of the COVID-19 and threatened to overhaul his assistants.

The cabinet under President Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin combine young and experienced peoples. 34 ministers has fill the cabinet in the second term of his administration.

“Don’t be corrupt. There is no vision and mission of the minister, but the president and vice president vision and mission, work fast, hard and productive, don’t get stuck in routine and monotonous, work with results orientation, always check on the field and find solutions, and at any time I can dismiss the minister if unable to carry out their duties,” said the head of state on Oct. 23, 2019.
