Indonesia records inflation of 0.22% in September

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Indonesia posted inflation of 0.22 percent in September compared to previous month, led by processed food, beverage and tobacco, the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) announced.

BPS data showed that the inflation rate in January-September stood at 1.97 percent, while the year-on-year inflation in September stood at 3.07 percent.

The Head of BPS Kecuk Suhariyanto said he expects the inflation rate to remain under control over the remaining of the year, and should be in line with the government’s target of around 4 percent.

 

Product groups that recorded price hike are first, processed food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco rose 0.34 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased 0.29 percent; clothing rose 0.13 percent; health products increased 0.33 percent; education, recreation and sport rose 0.52 percent; transportation, communication and financial services increased 0.19 percen, while food products declined by 0.07 percent (deflation).
Core inflation in September was recorded at 0.33 percent, core inflation in the period of January-September stood at 2.58 percent, while year-on-year core inflation in September was at 3.21 percent. (*)
