JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia recorded inflation of 0.51 percent in January from previous month driven by a rise of a number of product groups including food products as well as electricity, gas and fuel tariffs, the Central Statistic Bureau (BPS) announced.
The Head of BPS Suryamin said the food products contributed inflation of 2.2 percent in the month.
The year on year inflation in the month stood at 4.14 percent, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
The core inflation in January was at 0.29 percent, while the core inflation year on year in January was was at 3.62 percent.
In term of location, the highest inflation was recorded by Sibolga town in Sumatera with inflation of 1.82 percent, while lowest inflation was recorded by Padang town, the capital of West Sumatera province.
BPS recorded that food products increase 2.20 percent in the month; processed food, cigarette, beverage and tobacco rose 0.51 percent; housing, water electricity, gas and fuel edged up 0.53 percent; health gained 0.36 percent; clothing rose 0.26 percent; education, recreation and sport rose 0.15 percent; while transportation, communication and financial services edged fell 1.11 percent.
