Indonesia car sales up 7.5% in February to 94,791 units, Astra market share rises

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia’s domestic car sales, excluding low cost green car (LCGC) reached 94,791 units in February, up by 7.5 percent from 88,208 units in the same month last year, PT Astra International Tbk (IDX:ASII) announced, citing Gaikindo data.

Total LCGC sales in February doubled to 21,727 units from 14,625 units in February last year. Therefore, total car sales, including LCGC, reached 116,519 units, up from 102,833 units in previous year.

Total non-Astra car sales in February reached 39,240 units, fell from 46,753 units in February last year.

Astra International recorded car sales of 55,551 units in February 2017, excluding LCGC, up from 41,455 units in previous year. Its LCGC sales totaled 18,167 units, surged from 8,479 units in February last year.

Astra’s market share, excluding LCGC, rose to 59 percent in February from 47 percent in February last year, while its LCGC market share increased to 84 percent from 58 percent in February last year.

In the first two months, car sales reached 181,044 units, excluding LCGC cars which reached 44,092 units. (*)
