JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Achmad Zaky, founder of an investment company Init 6 and e-commerce platform Bukalapak, invested US$5 million in IDCloudHost, a cloud service provider based in Indonesia. This funding marks a new chapter that has helped strengthen the startup’ business strategy to optimize the rapid growth of the digital industry in the world.

Alfian Pamungkas Sakawiguna, founder and CEO of the company, welcomes the funding support from the investor, making the entry of these investors a momentum for the company to take aim at a larger market in Asia. In addition, he said, strengthening technology and human resources will remain the main focus of IDCloudHost in executing its business plans.

“The experience and expertise of our friends at Init 6 will greatly help us to be more competitive and produce a variety of innovative products that meet market needs,” he said in an official statement released on Tuesday (03/23).

Sakawiguna explained, IDCloudHost was founded in 2015 and now have 100,000 regular customers. While, Zaky, Init 6’ founding partner, said amid intense competition in the cloud service provider industry in the world, IDCloudHost has been able to maintain the momentum of its business growth in a sustainable manner.

“We chose IDCloudHost because we saw that the energy and ability of this team to innovate and execute its strategy was extraordinary. We hope that they will further strengthen the startup ecosystem and bring more creative ideas to develop digitally,” he said.

Muhammad Mufid Luthfi, IDCloudHost’ chief marketing officer revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic that started last year has accelerated digital transformation across various sectors and changed people’s lives. The heightened experience and increased trust of the public in conducting digital transactions also encourages the digital ecosystem in Indonesia and Asia to expand.

Recently, United States’ Microsoft Corp., has make a strategic investment in Bukalapak. The technology firm and existing backers Singapore-based GIC and PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (IDX: EMTK) also investing more in one of unicorns in Indonesia. Both parties said have formed a strategic partnership to reshape how e-commerce is conducted in the country, kicking off the collaboration between the two companies.

The partnership will leverage Microsoft’ expertise in building a resilient cloud infrastructure to support Bukalapak services for more than 12 million micro, small and medium enterprises, and 100 million customers. Rachmat Kaimuddin, CEO of Bukalapak, said through this partnership, Bukalapak and Microsoft will collaborate on key initiatives like building resilient infrastructure, bridging the digital gap, and lift up the digital skills of the company employees and their merchants.

Haris Izmee, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia stated, “Through this partnership, merchants and consumers will have a more efficient and reliable buying and selling experiences, which in turn, creates business resilience and helps in accelerate growth in the Indonesian digital economy.”
