JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Responding to the announcement of the General Election Commission (GEC) on Tuesday (05/21), the National Police issued a standby one alert, especially in the Jakarta Capital City starting todaday to Saturday (May 21-25), said an official statement.

According to the Operational Assistant to the National Police Chief Inspector General Martuani Sormin Siregar, the security warning was a response from the police to ensure the final announcement on the presidential and parliaments votes on May 25.

“Based on the coordination meeting on May 20, the Police have discussed the security of the recapitulation stage and the determination of the results of the national level election vote count by the Commission on May 22, 2019,” he said in a written statement.

The former Head of the Papua Regional Police stressed that security was also carried out to anticipate the occurrence of contingency events due to acts of anarchy which could potentially occur during mass action on 21-22 May.

Previously, the Police ensures that based on intelligence data and analysis, the national security situation ahead of the deadline of the announcement of the vote recapitulation at the General Election Commission on May 22 will be conducive and safe.

Spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo revealed that despite acts of anarchy several weeks earlier, this week the security situation was in a stable condition and still far from what had previously been expected that there would be massive movements and coercive.

“From intelligence analysis the situation is still very conducive, we hope the situation will continue to be safe, peaceful and everything will proceed in an orderly manner,” he said in Jakarta.

But yesterday, in East Java, the Police carried out sweeping and secured three elf cars on the Suramadu Bridge. The three vehicles carried 54 peoples from Propo District, Pamekasan Regency, in Madura Island, who were leaving for Jakarta to take part in the people power rally.

In its investigation, the Police found 4 bottles containing kerosene complete with their axes. It was alleged that the four bottles were Molotov cocktails. The investigation team continued to explore the findings to find out the motives and owners of the Molotov cocktail.
