Tourists arrival in February reached 888,300 people, up 5.26% year-on-year

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – The number of tourists arrivals in Indonesia in February reached 888,300 people, representing an increase of 5.26 percent from the same month last year and increased 9.09 percent from January 2016, the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) data shows.

The number of visitors in the first two months of 2016 reached 1.70 million people or up 4.46 percent from the same months last year amounting to 1.63 million people.

The number of tourists arrivals through Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali in February increased by 10.19 percent from February 2015 to 367,000 from 331,100 people in the same month last year and increased by 6.8 percent from January.

The average hotel occupancy rate in 27 provinces in February reached 52.15 percent, up 4.56 percent from February 2015, which stood at 47.59 percent and increased 2.82 percent from January.

The government targets foreign visitors to reach 12 million in 2016 and further increase to 20 million in 2020.

The number of tourists arrivals in Indonesia in 2015 reached 9.73 million people, representing an increase of 3.12 percent from previous year arrivals of 9.44 million. The tourists arrivals figure excluding foreign citizens or citizens from neighboring countries who crossed the border. (*)
