Indonesian bank loans grew 8.4% in February

Indonesian bank loans grew 8.4 percent to Rp4,333 trillion year on year (y-o-y) in February from 8.2 percent a month earlier, Bank Indonesia (BI) said. Its reported, working capital credit rising 11.8 percent and investment credit increasing 9.7 percent. The central bank noted that the growth of working capital credit was particularly found in the manufacturing industry which grew 8.2 percent y-o-y compared to 1.2 percent a month earlier and the financial, property and service sectors which grew 21.8 percent y-o-y compared to 13.5 percent a month earlier. The growth of investment credit was particularly found in the trade, hotel and restaurant sector which grew 15.8 percent from 10.9 percent y-o-y, and the financial, property and service sector which expanded 15.9 percent y-o-y from 13.8 percent y-o-y in January 2017. The mount of micro small and medium business credits extended in February grew significantly 29.8 percent to Rp946.3 trillion y-o-y compared to 8.5 percent y-o-y in January.
