15 Swedish firms on lookout to invest in telecom, renewable energy in Indonesia

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – As many as 22 business people from 15 Swedish companies are currently visiting Indonesia to seek business opportunities in various sectors, including telecommunication, IT, electricity and renewable energy, the National Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said.

The top business leaders visited BKPM’s One Door Investment Service (PTSP) to see first-hand an improvement of business investment service in the country. The business leaders were accompanied by Minister Ibrahim Baylan and Sweden Ambassador to Indonesia Johanna Bismark Skoog.

The Head of BKPM Thomas Trikasih Lembong expressed his hope that the Swedish firms will increase their investment in the country. He said the sectors that the Swedish companies are interested are sectors that are being prioritized by the government such as renewable energy and power.

“As for renewable energy, the government targets the renewable energy contribution to the country’s energy mix will increase to 10-16% by 2019,” he said.

The visit of Swedish business delegation was facilitated by Indonesia’s BKPM representative in London (IIPC). The visit was also accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Sweden and Latvia Republic Bagas Hapsoso and a senior executive of IIPC Theopita Tampubolon. (*)
