(The Insider Stories) Shareholders of Indonesias biggest bank by assets on Tuesday appointed Budi Sadikin as the new president director to replace the outgoing Zulkifli Zaini.
Born in 1964, Budi Gunadi Sadikin holds a bachelors degree in nuclear science from the reputable Bandung Institute of Technology. Following his graduation, he moved to Tokyo to work in information systems at IBM in 1988.
His introduction to the banking industry came in the mid-1990s as general manager for electronic banking of the now-defunct Bank Bali. After the bank’s collapse, he joined ABN AMRO until 2004, last holding the position of senior vice president of consumer and commercial banking for Indonesia and Malaysia operations.
He had a two-year stint at Bank Danamon, partly owned by Singapore sovereign fund Temasek, as head of consumer banking before moving to Bank Mandiri in 2006 to become the managing director of micro and retail banking.
Bank Mandiri (BMRI) shareholders agreed to pay a dividend of 199.3 rupiah a share on Tuesday. The dividend, representing about 30% of Mandiri’s IDR15.5 trillion ($1.6 billion) worth of net profit in 2012, will be paid in May.
