JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Shareholders of state owned telecom company PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk have decided at the company’s annual shareholders meeting (AGM) on Friday (Apr 21) to distribute Rp13.55 trillion as dividend, representing 70 percent of the company’s 2016 net profit of Rp19.35 trillion.
The dividend is equals to Rp136.747 per share. The dividend is the highest in the past three years.
In 2016, the company’s net profit rose 24.9 percent from previous year and EBITDA rose 15.7 percent to Rp59.5 trillion. In the year, it booked revenues of Rp116.33 trillion, up 13.5 percent from previous year.
Of the dividend, 60 percent or RP11.61 trillion will be distributed as cash dividend and the remaining Rp1.92 trillion was interim dividend, which has been paid to investors on Dec. 27, 2016. The remaining dividend to be distributed to shareholders will reach Rp9.69 trillion or Rp117.367 per share and Rp1.94 trillion or 10 percent of dividend is treated as special dividend.
The remaing Rp5.8 trillion of the 2016 net profit will be used as retained profit.
President Director of Telkom Alex J. Sinaga said Telkom managed to record positive growth in 2016, as shown by the significant growth of its revenue contribution, in particular data, internet and IT services which rose 41.5 percent in the year. “This is a result of Telkom’s transformation to become digital telecommunication company,” he said.
Alex said the company is upbeat of achieving above industry growth again this year, in particular in data, internet and IT services.
Net profit surged in Q1
In the first quarter of 2017, Telkom reported the net income of Rp19.35 trillion, rose 24.9 percent compared to Q1 2016 at Rp15.49 trillion. Total revenues was recorded at Rp116.33 trillion, up from Rp102.47 trillion from the same period last year.
Telkom’s Director for Finance Harry M. Zen said, the higher revenues and net profit was supported by a rise in data services revenues contribution, from 31 percent to 37 percent of total revenues of the company.
Data revenues jumped 31.5 percent year on year (yoy) from Rp32.69 trillion to Rp42.99 trillion mainly attributable to strong mobile and fixed broadband service like IndiHome. While mobile data traffic (payload) increased 94.8 percent.
As of 31 December 2016, Telkomsel served 173.9 million subscribers nationwide, an increase of 13.9% YoY. Out of the total base, 47.5% or 82.6 million were using 3G/4G capable device which grew strongly by 33.9% YoY. (*)
