JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) -Apple Inc has unveiled its plan to set up an innovation center in BSD City, Tangerang in Banten province. Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the Indonesian government welcome the plan.
“We express our appreciation to Apple over its response to the Indonesian government’s call to increase local content, innovation and investment,” Minister Hartarto said when welcoming Director of Apple for South East Asia Michel Coulomb in Jakarta. Michel was accompanied by Manager for Government Affairs of Apple Indonesia Mirza Natadisastra.
Minister Hartarto said the research and development center (R&D) of Apple in BSD will be the first in Indonesia. “They are still in the process of designing and construction of a number of facilities,” said Airlanga.
R&D Center targets to operate in May, employing 400 local employees. The center is expected to collaborate with universities in the area, such as Bina Nusantara University.
Apple is also expected to carry out training program, such as training of trainer. (*)
