On Tuesday, Lippo Group was giving their support by giving scholarship amounting of Rp 150 million to the outstanding students of Riau University (UNRI), Pekanbaru. It is an annual routine for Lippo Group to give scholarship support to 10 Public Universities across Indonesia. In 2013, Riau University is one of the scholarship beneficiaries for the outstanding students.

The Universities which received support amounting of Rp 150 million in 2013 are:

1. Malikussaleh University (UNIMAL), Lhokseumawe.
2. Riau University (UNRI), Pekanbaru .
3. Public University of Padang (UNP), Padang
4. Brawijaya University ((UNIBRAW), Malang.
5. Mulawarman University (UNMUL), Samarinda.
6. Public University of Manado (UNIMA), Tondano.
7. Tadulako University (UNTAD), Palu.
8. Khairun University (UNKHAIR), Ternate.
9. Public University of Papua (UNIPA), Manokwari.
10. Mussamus University (UNMUS), Merauke.

“This activity is one of the routine of Lippo Group’s CSR programs given every year to support the outstanding students, especially the students with limitation in paying the school fee, thus they still could achieve their dreams,” said Andre Rumantir, Director of PT Matahari Department Store Tbk (MDS), one of Lippo Group’s business units.

According to Andre Rumantir, education funding is a commitment of Lippo Group to the development of Indonesian human resources in every aspect of life.

Education is the main factor for increasing Indonesian workers’ skill and value. Lippo Group believes that reliable Indonesian human resources will give a significant contribution in improving the nations’ quality of life.

Lippo Group leaves it to the Rectorate for the entire technical execution including the requirements of the students who eligible to receive the scholarship.

Prof.Dr. Ashaluddin Jalil Ms, the Rector of Riau University, the deans and the student’s representatives who received the scholarship symbolically were attending the event. Lippo Group was represented by Andre Rumantir, Director of Matahari Department Store, Emi Nuel, Director of Matahari Food Business, and the store managers of Matahari Department Store & Hypermart in Riau.
