JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The Jakarta Police named Rizieq Shihab as the the suspect on the provocation case and the violation of health protocols during his daughter’ wedding party in Central Jakarta. The saga continuing between the two, after police killed his six followers during a highway chase three days earlier.

The spokesman, chief commissioner, Yusri Yunus, said in a news conference on Thursday (10/12), the apparatus planned to pick the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader by force if his not cooperate with the police. Beside Shihab, the police have also named five other people as suspects, namely Haris Ubaidillah, A, MS, Sobri Lubis, and Habib Idrus as the people in charge of the events.

He adds, the police would charge Shihab with Article 160 of the Criminal Code and also open to use Article 216 of the bill, which carries a maximum sentence of six years’ imprisonment. Under the law, police have the authority to detain a suspect in a criminal charge punishable by a jail term of five years or more.

Last month, the 55-aged man made headlines when he arrived in the country after a two-year stay in Saudi Arabia. Thousands of supporters welcomed him at the Soekarno - Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, causing a massive traffic jam and raising public concerns over a the potential virus outbreak.

In 2017, the national police has been declared Shihab as a suspect over an alleged steamy WhatsApp conversation scandal with his reported “partner”, Firza Husein, the coordinator of the former president Suharto affiliated Solidaritas Sahabat Cendana Foundation. He has been summoned by the Police for several times but failed to show up, instead he ran away to Saudi Arabia.

In addition to the sexting case, he was also facing series of cases, including defamation against Pancasila. They have been charged with the 2008 Electronic Information and Transactions Law for allegedly exchanging information containing pornographic material. The FPI leader has staged series of demonstration against former Jakarta governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, during the regional election.
