JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Good morning! United Kingdom’ (UK) House of Commons rejected Prime Minister Theresa May’ program to exit European Union (EU) in a no-deal or not. Parliament voted 312 to 308 to rejected the Brexit plan without a withdrawal agreement.
By this, House of Commons members will have another vote on delaying Brexit. If they agreed, then UK will not leave the EU on the scheduled plan, March 29. May believed there could be a short delay to implement a deal in the next few days, or a longer delay if no agreement is reached.
Followed the Ethiopian Airlines crashed, United States (US) President Donald Trump issued an emergency order to ground all Boeing 737 Max aircrafts. He urged the planes will not fly until Boeing comes up with a solution. US airlines have dozens of Boeing 737 Max 8 fleets, most widely compared to other countries.
In Indonesia, Financial Services Authority suspended 168 unregistered peer-to-peer lending financial technology (FinTech) companies. Not only that, the authority also discontinued operations of 47 illegal investment companies. These companies allegedly did online financial crime that violates the law, also has potency to harm consumers.
Number of illegal FinTech companies that have been suspended by Financial Services Authority kept increasing. In 2018, authority have suspended 404 companies. While until mid-March 2019, the number rapidly grew to 399 companies.
Furthermore, Selayar Islands district is suggested to be a tourism special economic zone (SEZ). There are five spots that will be develop at the areas, according to official statement. Those are Sukabumi and Pangandaran in West Java, Likupang in North Sulawesi, Mentawai in West Sumatera Barat, and Selayar Islands in South Sulawesi.
Government expects that the tourism SEZs will attract capital investment and optimize industrial activity to boost society economy. To gain more tourists, Indonesia also targets to be the world’s best halal tourism destination based on Global Muslim Travel Index.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said, the target supported by 42 percent growth of halal destinations visits to 5 million tourists. And by gaining more tourist, the foreign exchange received would follow.
Indonesia Muslim Travel Index previously assigned 10 superior halal destinations. Those are Aceh, Riau, West Sumatera, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Lombok, and South Sulawesi.
In the financial market, Rupiah decreased slightly by 0.12 percent to 14,251.25 against the US Dollar. While Jakarta Composite Index bounced back after days of slumping. It grew by 0.37 percent to 6,377.57 despite Rp731.21 billion foreign outflows.
