JAKARTA - Maybank’s Finance Director Thilagavathy Nadason said the Malaysian-based bank is planning to issue subdebt in the first half of 2016 as part of efforts to maintain the bank’s capital adequacy ratio (CAR) within the range of 14 to 14.5 percent. The Indonesian unit of Malaysia Banking Bhd posted CAR of 14.89 percent as of September 2015.
The bank expects to also increase its CAR level by revaluing the bank’s assets either before the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2016. According to Nadason, the bank will only revalue its buildings and land properties, with the revaluation expected to boost the bank’s asset value by 150 percent. (*)
