JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - President Joko Widodo delivers a speech to commemorate Indonesia’s 71st independence day anniversary at DPD and DPR plenary meeting. The speech was made after earlier it delivered speech at the plenary meeting of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) as the first Agenda. Following is the highlights of the speech:
11.22: Indonesians need to nurture optimism spirit in developing nation. Indonesia is a great nation. We have to be proud of ourselves. We have to work together to address to eliminate poverty and narrow economic gap. By working together and with concrete steps Indonesia will continue to march forward to create a better and wealthier Indonesia.
11.21: The government and DPR are committed to ensure the regional elections (Pilkada) in 2017 will be successful.
11.18: The government is determined to stimulate growth in regional areas, including energy sector such as Natuna. The President also highlights the importance of developing border areas.
11.16: The government is changing the paradigm for State Budget, by focusing on priority programs. The government is determined to expand tax base with the implementation of tax amnesty policy.
11.12 : The government has also issued a number of reformed packages to speed up national development progress. The government also is syncronizing regulations between the central and local governments.
11.08: President also is determined to develop non-physical development (social infrastructure) such as improved quality of human resources. Therefore, the government encourage participation of all layers of society to take part in development, including SMEs. For this reason, the government has reduced lending rate. the government also opened opportunity for SMEs to get financing, such as People’s Business Credit (KUR).
11.06: President says the current government is prioritizing to develop infrastructure projects to improve national connectivity, including toll roads, airports, ports as well as other strategic infrastructures such as power including renewable energy, irrigation and people’s housing.
The government is determined to develop marginal areas. To do so, the government encourage private sector to participate and encourage cooperation between SOEs and private sector.

09.45: Judicial Commission has done a good job with regard to selection of good judges. The President calls on State institutions to forge synergy and improve works to win competition and attain advancement toward a better Indonesia. Happy Anniversary Indonesia! Speech ended.
09.40: Appreciates the work of Supreme Court (MA) in making decisions judging from increasing number of verdicts made as well as other breakthroughs based on information technology.
The President also appreciates the work of Constitutional Court (MK) judging from the volume of decisions or verdicts made, on judicial laws, regional election (Pilkada) disputes (151 verdicts) out of total 268 Pilkada.
09.37: Supreme Audit Board (BPK) has implemented audit system on government’s budget and institutions. DPD has also participate actively in discussing government’s programs, supports the development of creative economy, and others. Also appreciate the support on the implementation of tax amnesty program.
09.35: Appreciates DPR’s works in cooperation with the government to enact 10 new laws, including Tax Amnesty, laws on fishery. The important thing is not the volume but the quality of laws. DPR and the government will soon start deliberation of draft state budget 2017.
09.31: President Joko Widodo: Indonesia is entering facing stiffer competition. Indonesia needs to work harder and determination to uphold the Constitution and values. Otherwise Indonesia will be washed away by the globalized world.
