JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently checking the backgrounds of the candidates of the Financial Services Authorities (OJK) commissioners for the period of 2017-2022.
Earlier this week, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, head of the selection panel, submitted 107 candidates of OJK commissioners who have passed preliminary requirements. The KPK will check whether they have been implicated in legal or corrupt cases, tax compliance, compliance to report assets and so on in order to determine their integrity. These data will be combined with other information about the candidates.
The KPK recommendation will be used by the selection panel to shortlist the candidates.
“We will check their background. KPK will provide data about the candidates whether they have been involved in legal problems with KPK,” said KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah Thursday.
“We will check the candidates background, one by one. We have just received the names and will check their historical data and legal compliance,” he said.
Sri Mulyani said the selection panel submitted the names to KPK in order to get inputs from KPK about their past records. She said the background check will be done until Feb. 24, 2017. Apart from KPK, the selection panel also asked the public at large to give inputs.
Sri Mulyani has also asked inputs from PPATK to check any suspicious transactions of the OJK Commissioners candidates.
The candidates that have passed the administrative requirements come from various background, such as top executives of private companies, former executives of stock market regulator, politicians and others. They come from various institutions such as IDX, Finance Ministry, Bank Indonesia, Parliament (DPR), insurance companies, Lectures, OJK, bank executives and others. (*)
