JCI may extend gains on commodity price rise, Wall Street gains
JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - The Indonesian stock market is expected to trade in positive territory today supported by buying interest in energy and commodity stocks on the back of a rise in crude oil price. The gains on Wall Street overnight is expected to weigh on market sentiment.
On Wednesday, the Jakarta Composite Index rose 23 points (+0,49%) to close at 4,853.00. The transaction value reached Rp 5.7 trillion. Mining and automotive stocks led the gains.
William Surya Wijaya, the head of Research fo PT Asjaya Indosurya Securities, expects the JCI index to trade within range of 4,774 and 4,881 points.
William said the mining and energy stocks began to attract market players driven by a rise in crude oil price. “In the short term, the JCI still has potential to go up,” he said.
