JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – President Joko Widodo aims to creates a triangle of economic areas in Java Island to support the regional economic growth. He delivered his desires at the limited meeting of the acceleration of Patimban Port development today.
“The north coast of Java, which is already connected to the toll road, must be our super corridor because infrastructure facilities are relatively better to support the industrial estates, tourism areas and the production centers,” he told the ministers at the meeting.
He continued, the port must be connected to the toll road at the surrounding areas like Jakarta, Bekasi, Subang, Karawang, and Purwakarta. Therefore, he wants to accelerate the development of Patimban Port in Subang.
“We hope that this port will have a strategic role in growth and trade in the West Java region and complement Tanjung Priok (port in Jakarta). Therefore, I want to accelerate the development of this Patimban port,” said the head of stated.
He also reminded his staff that the big strategy for port development, especially Patimban, Tanjung Priok, and 28 other ports are completely consolidated so it become complement each other, accelerate the regional economic growth, and provide speed of logistics services, as well as our export products are increasingly efficient and competitive.
“With this Patimban Port, a triangle of economic growth areas will be built, namely Patimban Port, Kertajati Airport, as well as areas in Bekasi, Karawang, and Purwakarta as an industrial area, connected and mutually supporting each other so that they have competitiveness, especially for products. export products and more specifically in the automotive sector,” he adds.
While, the coordinating minister for economic affairs, Airlangga Hartarto stated, Patimban port has an investment value of Rp43.22 trillion (US$2.94 billion) and a land requirement of 369.5 hectares. He also said that Patimban Port is targeted to hold a soft opening in the fourth quarter of 2020.
“President targeting the soft launching of the first package of Patimban Port in November 2020 and he second package in the fourth quarter of 2021 and the overall access timeline will operate in 2023,” he said in a virtual press conference today.
The port is currently will connected to the non-toll in north sea coast line (8.2 kilometers) and will will be connected to Cikampek – Palimanan (Cipali) toll Road. Then, the government will continue the access to the Cipali toll road, which is estimated to take two years.
The central area for the industrial growth in Banten, consisting of Cilegon, Tangerang and Serang. Then in West Java, namely Bogor, Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, and Subang.
“Then the industrial development area in the eastern part of West Java is the new Rebana area, as well as the places for Patimban Port, namely Cirebon, Indramayu, and Majalengka,” he continued.
For the Central Java region, said Hartarto, there are Batang, Kendal, Semarang, and Demak. Meanwhile in East Java there are Tuban, Lamongan, Gresik, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto and Bangkalan.
