Indonesia car sales up 7.8% in March to 101,484 units, Astra market share rises

JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) – Indonesia’s domestic car sales, excluding low cost green car (LCGC) reached 101,484 units in March, up by 7.8 percent from 94,092 units in the same month last year, PT Astra International Tbk (IDX:ASII) announced, citing Gaikindo data.

Total LCGC sales in March nearly doubled to 20,128 units from 13,141 units in March last year. Therefore, total car sales, including LCGC, reached 121,612 units, up from 107,233 units in previous year.

Total non-Astra car sales in March reached 45,233 units, compared to 48,053 units in the same month last year.

Astra International recorded car sales of 56,251 units in March 2017, excluding LCGC, up from 46,039 units in previous year. Its LCGC sales totaled 15,094 units, surged from 8,326 units in March last year.

Astra’s market share, excluding LCGC, rose to 55 percent in March from 49 percent in March last year, while its LCGC market share increased to 75 percent from 63 percent in March last year.

In the first three months, car sales reached 282,596 units, while total LCGC cars sales reached 64,220 units. (*)
